Well, that didn’t take long. For years, I’ve been trying to predict a more expensive future for the W210 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG and it sure seems to be coming true. The really prime examples are bringing crazy money and it sure seems dealers are suddenly now chasing them. This 2001 model-year example up for sale in California sure seems to be that following that trend with just 34k miles and what appears to be outstanding conditioning; at least, at first glance. Let’s take a look.

Hot tip of the day. If you are ever interested in a car, Google the VIN. You never know what you might find. Thanks to the ad still being up and Google images cache, this example had some ghastly aftermarket wheels as well as some very dark window tint. Also it shows the car being listed for $16,600 with the same exact mileage. So this dealer sourced some factory wheels, pulled the window tint, took some nice photos, and cranked the price up $43,000. Yeah. Even worse, that driver’s seat is a little worn for just 34,000 miles.
Say what you want about this business, but it isn’t really hard to find history if you know how to work the internet. And for $60,000, you’d think they fix the engine cover and at least spend $250 for a second key for the a $43,000 profit they’re looking to make.
